How can I add a ‘Student Discount’ call to action?
We have the banner toggle on the ‘display settings’ tab in the app which can be used as a call to action & this will display a banner across the top of your homepage linking to your landing page. We recommend using this for optimal conversions as students will see this as soon as they land on your website.
Go to the ‘Display Settings’ tab and switch on the banner toggle on the left hand side. It will ask you to ‘Enable Banner in theme editor’. This is super simple to do. Just click the green button and a new window will open. Just opening the window has enabled the banner, so now all you need to do it click back onto the original window, click done and the save button in the top right hand corner.

I’ve switched the Landing Page on but I can’t see it on my website – how can I fix this?
Great news that you’ve created your landing page. To see this on your website & to set your student programme live, you need to add a call to action.
We have the banner toggle on the ‘display settings’ tab in the app which can be used & this will display a banner across the top of your homepage linking to your landing page. We recommend using this for optimal conversions as students will see this as soon as they land on your website.

Will I receive an offer listing on the Student Beans app and website? When will this happen?
Yes, a benefit of working with Student Beans is that you will receive an offer listing on our App and Website. We will set this live for you as soon as we see your call to action on your homepage, linking to your student verification.
Can I offer a different discount for new and existing customers?
Today, the Student Beans App allows you to add your own terms and conditions so you can limit the discount to certain collections. However, we cannot offer a different discount dependent on user type.
Can I run multiple discounts at one time?
You can amend your discounts at anytime but you’re unable to run two student offers at the same time. We recommend having a minimum 10% student offer (always-on). You can put an end date on this and create another higher discount eg: 20% for key times of the year to boost conversions. This way you can see the performance of both discounts. Once your limited time discount has run, switch your 10% student discount back on.
Do you recommend I run an always-on discount?
Yes, we’ve been working with students for over 15 years and we know that to generate loyalty with this demographic, they expect an always-on student offering (not one that is only available for a short period of time)
Can I offer time-limited discounts?
Yes, we recommend for optimal conversions that you offer boosted time-limited discounts. This means a higher discount for a shorter period of time over key student times in the calendar eg: Cyber Week.
When you create the discount in the ‘manage discounts’ tab, just ensure that you add the start date and the end date and time. Remember to click save in the right-hand corner.
Do I have to add an image for the landing page?
No, you can choose to leave this blank if you wish
I’ve added the image for the landing page but it looks too small, how can I amend this?
The recommended size for the landing page is: 1170H x 780W. Please ensure you are using an image at least this size.
Can I amend the text and colours of the landing page & display buttons?
Yes you have complete control over this. You can customize your page and display buttons within the ‘Display Settings’ tab of the Student Beans Shopify App. Remember, after making any changes, to click the ‘SAVE’ button in the top right hand corner.
I’ve toggled on the banner on the display settings tab but it isn’t showing on my website, how can I fix this?
Once you have toggled on the banner & it is on (green), make sure you click the SAVE button in the top right hand corner.
If this still doesn’t work, this might mean you are on a theme where you have to toggle on app embeds. When you turn the banner on this window should show up. Click ‘Enable banner in theme editor’. This should happen automatically but if it doesn’t follow the below instructions:
1. Go to the theme editor
2. Click on the ‘App Embeds’ icon on the left hand side (image here →)
3. Make sure the banner toggle is on
4. Click Save on the top right corner.
I’ve toggled on the button at cart but it’s not showing, how can I fix this?
The first step is to check your theme, as there are different instructions for each.
If Theme 2.0 follow those steps to activate CTA:
Step 1: Go to the Cart page in Theme Editor.
Step 2: Click “Add section” on the left hand side panel.
Step 3: Add “Student Verification Button” to enable it.
Step 4: Drag and drop the button to your desired location on the Cart page.
If Legacy theme, follow these steps to activate CTA:
Step 1: Open the Code Editor for your theme. (Go to the Online Store > click the Actions drop down > select Edit code)
Step 2: Click add a new section from the left-hand panel.
Step 3: Name the new section “student-verification-cta” and click the Create section button.
Step 4: Copy this code snippet and paste it to replace the code of the newly created student-verification-cta.liquid. Then click Save.
Step 5: Search and open “cart.liquid” template.
Step 6: Finally, paste this section snippet “{% section ‘student-verification-cta’ %}” exactly where you want the verification button to be displayed on your cart page. Then click Save.
When I test my verification, an error message shows instead of the code. How can I rectify that?
If your student verification is issuing an error message, this most likely means that the redirect URL is the issue here. Potentially when filling out the original form you confirmed a different URL. Please check and confirm your Shopify brand URL by looking it up in the store domains section. In the main left menu go to online store > domains and you will see an overview of your store domains the right domain is the one that ends with myshopify.com.

How can I increase conversions?
To make the most out of your student discount programme, we have a few steps for you to follow.
Firstly, it sounds simple but before students can use the student discount, they need to be aware that it exists!
Send a newsletter out to your database, promoting your always-on student discount. You’re showing students you value them as a demographic, they will love this!
We also suggest promoting this across your social channels if you can. This is Gen Z’s natural habitat and where they look before making a purchase.
Secondly, check your calls to action on your website.
Make sure you have a CTA in your header or as a banner on the homepage (some examples for you below), this means when students land on the page they will know about your student discount straight away. We see 50% more conversions for clients who advertise their student discount above the fold of the website.
Make the most of our app embeds. We have a banner (which can sit on the top of your website) or a button at the checkout. Both of these will lead to an increase in Student Conversions.
My student verification is live, but when I test it the discount is not applying – how can I fix this?
Please make sure you have enabled discount redemption. Go to the ‘App set-up’ tab at the top of the Student Beans Shopify App & underneath your activated credentials, you will see a green button which says ‘enable discount redemption’. Click the green button and then click save in the top right hand corner.
