This week, we’re focusing in on Gen Z role models who are redefining fashion from the ground up. Catch up on part 3 in case you missed it!

Charli D’Amelio

17-year-old Charli D’Amelio is a social media influencer and dancer. Known as one of TikTok’s biggest stars, Charli rose to prominence in late 2019 after she started posting dance videos on the social platform. This led to Charli becoming the most-followed content creator on the platform.

Since then, Charli’s career has massively progressed. As well as being a vlogger and TikTok star, Charli has released a book, podcast, nail polish collection, Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, and make-up line with Morphe. She has also starred in Hulu series, The D’Amelio Show, alongside her family.

More recently, Charli and her sister Dixie have entered the fashion scene. As a high-profile influencer with a following of over 130 million people, Charli’s new line ‘Social Tourist’ is super popular with teens and young adults. Sold exclusively at Hollister, the line features essential wear, unisex styles, a pet collection and more. Charli exemplifies a new pipeline owned by Gen Z – that of TikTok influencer to fashion queen.

Wisdom Kaye

20-year-old Wisdom Kaye has become a big name in the fashion world, first developing an interest for fashion when he was in high school – gathering most of his inspiration from French fashion designer, Hedi Slimane

Deemed “TikTok’s best dressed guy” by none other than Vogue, Wisdom started his TikTok career in January 2020, posting videos of his outfits and how he styles himself. Within the first few months on the platform, he had already gained 2 million followers. Today, his profile has over 7.4 million followers.

Wisdom’s career has expanded beyond social media, since he was scouted by IMG Models. He still posts a TikTok video a day, showing off his love of styles from different eras and how he is inspired by old school TV shows, like Powerpuff Girls and Disney channel favorites – all of which speaks to Gen Z’s love of nostalgia

Remi Jo Bader

Sitting in the ‘Zillennial’ zone is 26-year-old Remi Bader. She is a social media influencer and curve model, best known for her realistic clothing hauls that she posts on TikTok and Instagram

After losing her corporate job last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Remi began posting honest, authentic content around self-love. She has since become a prominent voice around the topic of size inclusion in the fashion industry, working with a number of brands like Revolve, Free People and Abercrombie

“I think I’ve just always been a really open person. I’m not just gonna pretend that everything’s positive every single day. I’m gonna post some of the negatives too…or else my whole idea of being realistic wouldn’t be realistic.” – Remi

Billie Eilish

Singer-songwriter, Billie Eilish, who turns 20 this month, is a huge Gen Z figure. She rose to fame after being signed by a record label when she was just 14 years old.

Billie’s fashion has always been a topic of conversation across the media. Her signature neon green roots and baggy clothes were, for a while, an iconic image that everyone associated with the singer. However, over the last year, Billie has transformed her look – encouraging her fans to be what they want to be, and to wear what they feel good in.

“Showing your body and showing your skin – or not – should not take any respect away from you.” – Billie

Her new blonde locks were first debuted in a British Vogue cover shoot, where Billie channeled a classic old-time pin-up look.

Since then, Billie’s iconic fashion moments have been making the news for more reasons than the fact that they are fabulous. For the Met Gala back in September, Billie agreed to wear an Oscar de la Renta gown if the brand would stop using animal fur. Her messaging makes her an authentic, value-driven role model for Gen Z.
